16 Ideas in Global Renewable Energy

TheBusinessInsider website has released a video featuring 16 new ideas and technologies in renewable energy, some of which are already widely used, such as floating photovoltaics, offshore wind, and panda power plants:

1. This whirlpool turbine can power dozens of homes in rural areas. It produces energy 24 hours a day. And it can be installed in most rivers and canals. Free-flowing water powers the generator's turbines and it is safe for fish to pass through!

2.This Waterotor turbine specializes in slow moving water. It operates at current speeds as low as 2 mph ...... so it can be used almost anywhere. The designer says this turbine is the first of its kind and safe for aquatic animals!

3.This giant flower is made with solar panels.SmartFlower mimics the way sunflowers absorb solar energy and has a tracking system that tracks the sun just like a real flower.

4.HomeBiogas 2.0 turns food scraps into gas! Bacteria digest waste and convert it into biogas. The device consumes up to 6 liters of waste per day ...... and can produce cooking gas for up to 3 hours. It can even create fertilizer!

5. This floating solar power plant generates more electricity and water than conventional solar power plants, which helps cool the panels and increase efficiency. The panels are designed to withstand extreme weather and can be recycled.

6. These floor tiles use footsteps to generate electricity. They are made by Pavegen and can generate up to 7 watts per step, which is most effective in urban areas in high-traffic areas. The company even uses the tiles to charge Teslas!

7.The GoSunGrill uses sunlight to power it. A reflector focuses the sun's rays on a metal tube ...... producing cooking temperatures of up to 550°F. Food goes directly into the cylindrical tube.

8. This image of a panda was made with solar panels. China is on a mission to build 100 such panda power plants. One plant could power more than 10,000 homes a year. The idea was proposed in 2015 by 15-year-old AdaLiYan-tung, who suggested the design would engage young people in renewable energy.

9. These turbines constitute the first offshore wind farm in the United States. General Electric and DeepwaterWind collaborated on the project, and their greenhouse gas emissions are 40,000 tons less than fossil fuels.

10. Ecocapsule is a micro-house. And it can accommodate two people for up to a year. It has all the necessary amenities: kitchen, bathroom and storage space. It is powered by solar cells and a wind turbine that collects and filters rainwater.

11. The Saphonian is a bladeless wind turbine. It mimics the wings of a bird or the tail of a fish. And it is designed after the sails of a ship. Bladeless may be cheaper than building a conventional turbine ...... and it does not interfere with magnetic or radar waves!

12. The Hydralight lantern is an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional gas lanterns. It runs on salt water and energy pools. and uses charged particles in the water to generate electricity. The lantern is simple to use ...... only needs to be dipped in salt water once and can emit light for over 250 hours.

13.This floating wind farm in Scotland is the first of its kind. Don't worry: it won't float away. It's held in place by suction anchors on the seabed and can power 20,000 homes a year.

14. This sewage is being turned into biodiesel. The carbon content of human waste is converted into energy. Engineers say biodiesel can be used in regular diesel car engines ...... with little modification.

15.This blade-less turbine mimics the wings of a hummingbird. The TyerWindConverter uses a flapping action rather than spinning blades. It's not as powerful as a bladed turbine ...... but the smaller the size, the better it is for densely populated areas.

16. This battery can make, supply and store its own energy. eli-home recharges itself and can be used as a power grid. The solar panels gather and store energy, it is easy to dismantle and carry around, and can be controlled with a smartphone.
