Infineon Introduces StrongIRFET MOSFET in D2PAK 7pin+ Package

Infineon Technologies AG has further expanded its StrongIRFET 40-60 V MOSFET product portfolio with three new devices in the D2PAK 7pin+ package. With very low RDS(on) and high current-carrying capability, these new devices offer enhanced robustness and reliability for high power density applications requiring high efficiency. The three new MOSFETs target battery-powered applications, including power tools, battery management systems and low-voltage drives.

The new D2PAK 7pin+ package adds to the already extensive StrongIRFET package lineup. This provides more options to help select the ideal power device to meet design challenges. In addition, the new package's interchangeable pin arrangement options provide excellent design flexibility. Compared to the standard D2PAK 7-pin package, this new family of devices offers a 131 TP3T reduction in RDS(on) and a 501 TP3T increase in current-carrying capability over the previous generation, such as the benchmark IRL40SC240, a 40 V device with an RDS(on) of 0.65 mΩ and a current-carrying capability of 360 A. The new package is also available in the IRL40SC240, a 40 V device with an RDS(on) of 0.65 mΩ and a current-carrying capability of 360 A. The new package is also available in the D2PAK 7-pin package.

The package is optimized to accommodate die with an area increase of up to 20%, while having the same footprint and pin arrangement as the standard D2PAK 7pin. Therefore, it can easily replace the traditional D2PAK 7pin and H2PAK packages. In addition, the product family is available with both standard level and logic level gate drivers, giving designers a flexible drive solution.
