2020/7/28 Amazon Builds Three New Energy Projects

Recently, Amazon announced that it would carry out two and one new renewable energy utilization projects in theUnited StatesandSpain, respectively, in order to fulfill its commitment in addressing climate change. Amazon plans to achieve 80% renewable energy by 2024, 100% by 2030, and zero carbon emissions by 2040.

The project in southeasternSeville,Spain, will open the way for Amazon to launch renewable energy projects acrossEurope. When the project is completed, the new solar power plant will generate 149 megawatts of electricity. Two new solar projects inLeeCounty,IllinoisandNorthern Virginiahave a total power generation capacity of 180 megawatts. The completion of the three renewable energy projects will also provide about 329 megawatts of additional electricity for Amazon's European operating network and Amazon network service data center.AmazonWebServicesDataCenterprovides services to Amazon and millions of Amazon Web services (AWS) users around the world.

So far, Amazon has launched more than 70 renewable energy projects, including 21 public wind power facilities, solar power plants and more than 50 solar roof power projects installed in distribution centers around the world. These projects will provide more than 1900 megawatts of electricity.
