2020/8/13 StrongIRFET MOSFET with D2Pak 7pin+ Package

    2020-08-13

Infineon Technology further expanded the product lineup of StrongIRFET 40-60V MOSFET, and launched three new devices packaged with D2Pak 7pin+. With extremely low RDS(on) and high current carrying capacity, these new devices provide enhanced robustness and reliability for high power density applications requiring high efficiency. These three new MOSFETs target battery powered applications, including power tools, battery management systems and low-voltage drives.

The new D2Pak 7pin+ package expands the already rich lineup of StrongIRFET packages. This brings more options and helps to choose the ideal power device to meet the design challenge. In addition, the interchangeable pin arrangement options in the new package provide excellent design flexibility. Compared with the standard D2Pak 7pin package, the RDS(on) of the new series devices is reduced by 13% and the current carrying capacity is increased by 50%. For example, the benchmark product IRL40SC240 is a 40V device with an RDS(on) of 0.65 mΩ and a current carrying capacity of 360A.

The package is optimized to accommodate up to 20% increase in die area, with the same footprint and pin arrangement as the standard D2Pak 7pin. Therefore, it can easily replace the traditional D2Pak 7pin and h2pak packages. In addition, the product family can provide standard level and logic level gate drive, which brings flexible driving scheme for designers.
